Vol. 399 No. 1

Written Answers. - Charleville (Cork) Club Funding.

Frank Crowley

Ceist:

95 Mr. Crowley asked the Minister for Education whether national lottery funds will be made available to the GAA, Ballyhea, Charleville, County Cork.

The present position with regard to capital grant applications is that in 1989 the Government decided to amalgamate the lottery funded capital grant scheme and the amenity grant scheme operated by the Department of the Environment into a single scheme. Under the new arrangements, the Minister for the Environment will allocate grants to projects recommended by local authorities who will also be responsible for processing the applications.

As there are no funds available to my Department under this scheme any capital grant applications should be forwarded to the relevant local authorities for consideration under the new scheme.
