Vol. 399 No. 1

Written Answers. - Créche Facilities.

Eamon Gilmore

Ceist:

25 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Labour the FÁS training centres which provide crèche facilities for trainees who are parents; his views on whether such facilities are essential; and if he has any plans to ensure such facilities are made available.

Creche facilities are not currently provided in any FÁS training centre. The provision of such facilities by FAS could not be decided in isolation given the likely implications for other areas of the public service.

As the Deputy will be aware, I announced at the weekend that I was setting up a working group on the provision of child care facilities for parents at work. The group will examine practical measures which might be taken to develop a range of child care provisions. FAS will be participating on the working group.
