Vol. 399 No. 1

Written Answers. - Jobsearch Statistics.

Richard Bruton

Ceist:

41 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Labour the number of persons involved in Jobsearch during 1989; and if he will indicate, (a) the proportion placed in jobs as a result of the programme and (b) the proportion placed in courses resulting in recognised certification of skills acquired; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The number of people interviewed for the Jobsearch programme in 1989 was 53,758.

Of this number 8,545, 16 per cent, were placed in jobs and 15,677, 29 per cent were placed on certified FÁS skills courses.

In considering the figure for total placements it should be noted that a proportion of the people placed early in 1989 would have been interviewed in the second half of 1988.
