63 Mr. Nealon asked the Minister for Labour if it is his intention to establish a National Apprenticeship Council as recommended by the FÁS discussion document Apprenticeship, a New Approach, and as advocated by the Teachers' Union of Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
The board of FAS are currently reviewing the submissions made to them in response to the publication of the FÁS document Apprenticeship, a New Approach. Proposals for a future apprenticeship system will be submitted to me in due course and all proposals including any for a national apprenticeship council will be given careful consideration.
