Ceist:

152 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Health the number of established positions of (a) cleaner, (b) messenger and (c) porter which exist in his Department; the number of vacancies which have remained unfilled because of the embargo; the present number of vacancies; the number which are capable of being filled; the number which have been filled since 1 January 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are eight messenger posts in my Department. There are no cleaner or porter posts.

Prior to 1989 messenger services for my Department were provided by the Department of the Environment whose complement would have included provision for the services which they supplied to my Department. There are no vacancies at present and all the existing staff were appointed prior to 1 January 1990.
