Ceist:

180 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the number of established positions of (a) cleaner, (b) messenger and (c) porter which exist in his Department; the number of vacancies which have remained unfilled because of the embargo; the present number of vacancies; the number which are capable of being filled; the number which have been filled since 1 January 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

There are no established staff in the cleaner-messenger-porter grades in the Department of Tourism and Transport. Details of the numbers of unestablished staff in the grades concerned in the Department are as follows:

Porter (Services Attendant)	8	1	9
Total	13	4	17

Since 1 January 1990, one messenger, unestablished, has been appointed to the Department and a second will be appointed in the coming weeks. The filling of the remaining vacancies i.e. two messengers and one porter, services attendant, has not been sanctioned.
