Ceist:

29 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Social Welfare the proportion of expenditure on social welfare in the last financial year which was spent on administration; and the proportion which went to redistribute wealth to the needy sectors of the population.

Minister for Social Welfare (Dr. Woods)

The proportion of expenditure on social welfare in 1989 which was spent on administration was 4.8 per cent. The proportion which was spent on social welfare services was 95.2 per cent.
