Ceist:

24 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications if he will appoint consultants to report on the present position of An Post and to report on the level and speed of service it is providing and the resources available for change and expansion in the future; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not propose to appoint consultants as suggested by the Deputy. An Post is currently carrying out a major review of the postal service designed to secure the long-term viability of the company. It is a matter for the company to engage whatever consultancy expertise it considers necessary.
