Vol. 399 No. 4

Written Answers. - US Citizens Voting Rights.

Jim Higgins

Ceist:

91 Mr. J. Higgins asked the Minister for the Environment if he will clarify the position of the voting rights of United States citizens who are permanently domiciled in this country.

A citizen of the United States who is ordinarily resident here is entitled to be registered as a local government elector and to vote at local elections. If the person concerned is also a citizen of Ireland he would, in addition, be entitled to vote at Dáil, Presidential and European elections and referenda.
