Vol. 399 No. 5

Written Answers. - Customs House Docks Development.

Ruairí Quinn

Ceist:

33 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment if he had discussions with the chairman/chief executive of the Customs House Docks Development Authority; whether the chairman formally indicated his unhappiness with developments within the board, prior to his announced resignation; the action he proposes to take; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have, of course, had discussions on a number of occasions since becoming Minister for the Environment with the chairman/chief executive of the Custom House Docks Development Authority.

On 14 May 1990 the chairman of the Custom House Docks Development Authority announced his intention to tender his resignation from the office of chairman of the Authority on 30 June 1990 for the purpose of returning to a career in the private sector. I have stated publicly my appreciation of the work done by the chairman and wished him well in his future career.

I announced on 25 May 1990 that I will be appointing Mr. Seamus Paircéir as chairman of the Authority with effect from 1 July 1990 and for the period up to 16 November 1993.
