Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Offaly Housing Shortage.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

120 Mr. Flanagan asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to an acute housing shortage in Tullamore, County Offaly; and, if so, the steps he proposes to take to alleviate the problem.

I am aware of the housing need in Tullamore. A capital allocation of £441,000 has been made to the urban district council for their local authority housing programme 1990. This comprises £301,000 for housing and £140,000 for remedial works and will enable the council to commence eight houses at Clonminch and six at Kilbride Street, in addition to the completion of 12 houses previously approved for Clonminch, and to commence work on the first phase of remedial works in O'Molloy Street.
