Vol. 399 No. 7

Written Answers. - Hospital Treatment.

Pat Rabbitte

Ceist:

31 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Health if he has received a letter from a person (details supplied) in Dublin 24 which is strongly critical of the treatment received by her and other pregnant women in the Coombe Hospital, Dublin 8; if he has raised the matter with the management of the Coombe Hospital; if he intends to provide any additional resources to enable the hospital to improve its services; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have received correspondence from the person in question, and have raised the matter with the hospital authorities.

A scheme for upgrading of the out-patients department at the Coombe Hospital is currently under examination in my Department. I am at present preparing a five year capital programme. The position with regard to the Coombe Hospital will be considered in that context within the totality of similar demands from other hospitals and health care institutions throughout the country.
