Proinsias De Rossa

Ceist:

65 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Finance the number and grade of staff at the level of Higher Executive Officer and above who have resigned from his Department, the Revenue Commissioners and the Central Bank in 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990 to date; and if there is a problem in the renumeration and retention of expert staff in these important areas of the public sector.

The following is the information requested in respect of my Department and the Revenue Commissioners.

A turnover of staff has always been a feature of certain areas of the Civil Service and of the Central Bank. Central Bank personnel policy is a matter for the bank itself. Personnel policy in the Civil Service is aimed at ensuring that appropriate staffing levels are maintained in these areas.
