69 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 13 is being taxed at full rate while on a social employment scheme; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the net earnings of this person is equivalent to what he would be entitled to on unemployment assistance; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that a certificate of tax-free allowances granting an allowance of £800 issued to the taxpayer on 21 May 1990. This allowance is lower than usual because all other allowances have been allocated to the taxpayer's wife.
