82 Mr. Browne (Carlow-Kilkenny) asked the Minister for Education the number of remedial teachers employed by her Department in primary schools; and the number of remedial teachers in schools or combinations of schools with five or fewer teachers.
I have sanctioned during 1989-90 the employment by national schools of an additional 30 remedial teachers to supplement the existing cadre of some 850 teachers. There are approximately 65 remedial teachers employed in primary schools, or combinations of primary schools, with five or fewer teachers.
