Vol. 399 No. 10

Written Answers. - Electrical Interconnector Grid.

Roger T. Garland

Ceist:

97 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Energy the proposed locations under consideration for the Irish terminal of the proposed electrical interconnector with the EC grid; in each case, the locations for the terminals at the other end; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The possible locations of the terminals for the proposed electrical interconnector have not yet been determined. Seabed surveys and feasibility studies would have to be carried out first in order to identify a preferred route.

Ceist:

98 Mr. Garland asked the Minister for Energy if he will make a statement on the estimated total cost of the proposed electrical interconnector with the EC grid.

The working group on interconnection which reported in 1988 estimated that the total capital cost of an electricity interconnector with the UK would be in the region of £160 million 1985 prices.
