Vol. 399 No. 11

Written Answers. - Tax Relief.

Liam Fitzgerald

Ceist:

44 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Finance if, in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 17, who has applied for a tax rebate arising out of the payment of orthodontic treatment costs, for the purpose of tax rebate assessment, the period 9 September 1988 to 30 June 1989, should be taken into account as during this period the applicant was in taxable employment and paid out a substantial proportion of the orthodontic treatment costs; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the claim for income tax relief in respect of health expenses was submitted to the inspector of taxes on 30 May 1990. The inspector has written to the taxpayer for additional information required to process the claim.
