Vol. 399 No. 12

Written Answers. - US Radar System Proposal.

Dick Spring

Ceist:

32 Mr. Spring asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Irish Government has been consulted about the proposed US high power continuous wave over the horizon radar transmitter at Saint David's Airfield on the end of the South West Wales peninsula in the Pembrokeshire National Park.

The Government have not been consulted by the British or United States Governments about the proposed over the horizon radar transmitter referred to by the Deputy. I would add that Ireland will not be in any way involved in the operation of this radar system which, furthermore, is not directed towards us and will not affect Ireland.
