92 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Labour, in respect of the Government-sponsored EUROPEN campaign, the action he has taken within his Department to ensure Ireland's preparedness for 1992; if, as recommended he has appointed a person in his Department with specific responsibility for 1992; if that person has developed and promoted a programme for work/activities in this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department participated in the EUROPEN campaign by distributing, through the EUROPEN Bureau, information on the social dimension of the Single Market.
In order to provide additional information where required, an officer of my Department was nominated to deal with any specific issues relating to the Department.
I might also add that the Government have provided £4 million to FÁS this year to assist employers in providing for retraining of employees to meet the challenge of 1992 and to heighten awareness of the needs of the Single Market.
