Ceist:11 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications he received from Wicklow fishermen for a sea fishing licence.
Vol. 400 No. 2
11 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications he received from Wicklow fishermen for a sea fishing licence.
18 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications he has received from Cork fishermen for sea fishing licences.
19 Mr. D'Arcy asked the Minister for the Marine the number of applications he has received from County Wexford fishermen for sea fishing licences.
36 Mr. Cosgrave asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received any applications for sea fishing licences from the County Dublin area.
(Limerick West): I propose to take Questions Nos. 11, 18, 19 and 36 together.
The number of applications to date from the four counties mentioned in question are as follows:
County |
Number |
Cork |
73 |
Dublin |
23 |
Wexford |
27 |
Wicklow |
9 |
I am aware that the number of applications nationally is more than 240, but I should like to ask the Minister to indicate the number of licences that have been issued.
(Limerick West): I will be dealing with that question at a later stage.
Essentially these are statistical questions. Policy matters, therefore, should not be raised now.
This is not a policy matter. I tabled a priority question on this issue but it did not appear on the list. Is the Minister in a position to tell us, in relation to the four counties he referred to, if licences were issued to people in those counties?
(Limerick West): I do not have any information on a county basis. All I can say is that three licences have been approved in principle, subject to certain conditions.
Is the Minister in a position to explain to the House the grounds on which the three licences were issued, the position in relation to the other 237 licences and how the Depart-ment——
We are not entering the area of policy. I am calling Question No. 12.
Will the Minister reply to my question?
It is not in order now.
