Vol. 400 No. 2

Written Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) Marina.

Nora Owen

Ceist:

27 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received an application in connection with the proposed construction of a marina in Malahide, County Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Yes. I have received an application for foreshore leases under the Foreshore Act, 1933 for the provision of a marina and ancillary developments on the foreshore at Malahide Estuary, County Dublin. The proposal has been advertised in the public press in the normal way as provided in the Foreshore Act. The closing date for receipts of submissions in relation to the application was Monday last, 18 June 1990. Submissions received will now be evaluated by my Department's technical and legal advisers.

As the Deputy may be aware, Dublin County Council, as the relevant planning authority, also have a role in relation to this development. On 19 January 1990 the council granted planning permissions in respect of the development subject to conditions which included one to the effect that no development should take place on site until the relevant licence had been granted by my Department under the Foreshore Act.

The planning permission has now been appealed to An Bord Pleanála which has not yet made any decision in the matter.
