Written Answers. - Fishing Industry Hygiene Standards.
I broadly welcome the EC Commission proposals to improve hygiene standards within the Community's fishing industry.
For the past few years my Department has been actively preparing the fishing industry in this country for the advent of new, more stringent standards of quality and hygiene. In my view, the industry here is now well equipped to meet the proposed new EC hygiene regulations governing the health conditions affecting the production and placing on the market of fishery products.
