63 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs , in respect of the Government sponsored EUROPEN campign, the action he has taken within his Department to ensure Ireland's preparedness for 1992; if, as recommended, he has appointed a person in his Department with specific responsibility for 1992; if that person has developed and promoted a programme of work/activities on this area; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department do not have direct responsibility for particular sectors of the economy and did not, therefore, organise a specific campaign. I did, however, nominate an officer from the European Communities division of my Department to have specific responsibilities for 1992 and I availed of opportunites to promote awareness of the Single Market in speeches made by me since the launch of the EUROPEN Campaign in 1988. My Department have distributed a considerable amount of information material relating to the 1992 campaign and continue to do so.
