Vol. 400 No. 3

Written Answers. - Rathfarnham (Dublin) Garda Station.

Emmet Stagg

Ceist:

101 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Justice if he will provide adequate manpower resources to the Rathfarnham Garda Síochána to enable them provide adequate foot patrols in the area of Marley Grange and surrounding housing estates in Dublin 14, in the light of recent attacks on young children; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are aware of recent incidents which involved indecent assaults on and approaches to children in the Marley Grange area. These incidents are under active investigation and special foot and mobile patrols are being operated in the area by gardaí from Rathfarnham with assistance from neighbouring stations and from the divisional task force.

The Garda authorities inform me that the question of increasing Garda strength at Rathfarnham station is being kept under review.
