Vol. 401 No. 5

Written Answers. - Certificates of Registration.

Austin Deasy

Ceist:

64 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine if he will grant a licence or certificate of registration to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

I have established a Sea Fishing Boat Licence Vetting Committee within my Department to consider all applications currently on hand for such licences. In the particular case to which the Deputy refers, my Department has received an application for a licence but the particulars appurtenant thereto do not correspond to those supplied by the Deputy. I have, therefore, arranged to have the applicant contacted with a view to clarifying the matter.

In so far as the issue of a certificate of registration is concerned, the position is that before any commercial fishing vessel can be registered it must first be licenced to fish by my Department.

Ceist:

65 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine if he will grant a certificate of registration to a person (details supplied) in County Waterford.

The registration of sea fishing boats is primarily a matter for the Registrar General of Fishing Boats.

I understand that the person to whom the Deputy refers has not to date applied to the registrar for the registration of his fishing boat.
