25 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education if the NCCA in accordance with its terms of reference has put in place the appropriate committees to review the standard and presentation of the examination papers taken in the 1990 leaving certificate, intermediate certificate and group certificate examinations; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
A working party established by the NCCA has undertaken a review of the leaving certificate results of 1989 with particular reference to the pattern of grades awarded in each subject and has furnished in interim report to me. The council, through the working party, will undertake further study of the examination results before making its final recommendations in the matter. The council proposed to examine student performance in various subjects at junior and senior level and report its findings to me.
