Vol. 402 No. 1

Written Answers. - Acid Rainfall.

Alan Shatter

Ceist:

336 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport whether the Meteorological Service has monitored, throughout the course of 1990, the level of acid rainfall in the State; if such monitoring ceased; if so, the date and the reason; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Meteorological Service has continued its full programme of acid rainfall monitoring during 1990. It carries out analysis of rainfall samples on a regular basis from a spread of meteorological stations throughout the country.

The acid rainfall measurements are made available on a regular basis to the Department of the Environment.
