Ceist:48 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Communications when he will name the Government Department to be decentralised to Waterford; when he expects the transfer to take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

In 1980 the Government decided that a number of staff of the then Department of Posts and Telegraphs should be transferred to Dundalk and Waterford.
Earlier this year the Government reaffirmed the decision of 1980 and decided that An Post and Telecom Éireann should be requested to identify sections from within their organisations for transfer to Dundalk and Waterford. I have asked the two companies to take the necessary action arising from the Government's decision.
