Vol. 402 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clogherhead (Louth) Harbour.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

20 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Marine the amount allocated for the development of the harbour at Clogherhead, County Louth; when work will commence on the pier; the expected duration of the work; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Michael Bell

Ceist:

81 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for the Marine if he has any plans for the provision of a replacement for the pier at Clogherhead, County Louth; the money, if any, which has been allocated for this project; the estimated cost and when it is expected that work will be completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 20 and 81 together.

My Department's engineers are at present considering the nature and extent of the development to be undertaken at Clogherhead. As of now, a sum of £2 million has been proposed in my Department's fishery harbour development programme for these works. Work will commence when a suitable and cost effective design has been finalised. It is expected that the project will take about two years to complete.
