Vol. 402 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given to me under Standing Order 20 (3) (a) and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Nora Owen, the implications of the Supreme Court's decision to allow Dublin County Council to proceed with a halting site at Mulhuddard; (2) Deputy Proinsias De Rossa, the escalating violence in Northern Ireland and the need for co-operation between the British and Irish Governments to foster dialogue between the democratic political parties in Northern Ireland; (3) Deputy Jimmy Deenihan, the serious problems facing many of our young drivers because of the spiralling cost of insurance and (4) Deputy Pat Rabbitte, the purchase by the Independent Group of a stake of almost 30 per cent in the Sunday Tribune newspaper, the desirability of one group achieving such a dominant position and the steps the Minister intends to take to ensure that no one group or individual will achieve a monopoly in the industry. I wish to advise the House that I have selected for discussion the matters raised by Deputies Jimmy Deenihan and Pat Rabbitte.
