Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Tullamore (Offaly) School.

Charles Flanagan

Ceist:

217 Mr. Flanagan and Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the serious difficulties that have arisen in respect of an extension to Mucklagh national school, Tullamore, County Offaly, which was completed approximately ten years ago and is now in need of substantial repair; and the steps she proposes to take in order to remedy the situation.

I am aware of the situation in relation to Mucklagh national school, County Offaly. The project referred to by the Deputy was in the hands of a firm of architects in private practice who had been engaged by the school authorities. My Department have been in communication with the chairperson of the board of management of the school regarding the whole matter and are considering in consultation with their architects whether the payment of a capital grant towards the cost of any necessary remedial works would be warranted.
