Vol. 402 No. 5

Written Answers. - Longford Estates.

Louis J. Belton

Ceist:

97 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason a final reply was not issued to Deputy Belton on behalf of a person (details supplied) in County Longford in relation to the division of an estate (details supplied).

Due to the transfer of the relevant section of the Department to Cavan earlier this year the work of the section has been interrupted for the past few months.

The section is now operational and I have arranged for this particular case to be dealt with as quickly as possible. I regret the delay in replying to the Deputy's representations.

Ceist:

98 Mr. Belton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the up to date position in relation to the application of a person (details supplied) in County Longford for a portion of an estate (details supplied); and the reason a final reply was not issued to Deputy Belton in this matter.

As the division of land is a matter reserved by law to the Land Commissioners I have no function in the matter.

I understand that a portion of this estate is still on hands. The application will be considered in competition with other applications when proposals are being finalised for its disposal.

The delay in replying to the Deputy's letter is regretted. This can be attributed to the interruption caused by the transfer of the relevant section of the Department earlier this year to Cavan.
