Ceist:

37 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment (a) the total amount collected in motor tax for the local authorities for each of the years from 1974 to date and (b) the total expenditure on road building and maintenance for the same period.

2. Column 3; the figures comprise fees for driver licensing, vehicle testing, trailer licensing, public service vehicle licensing and other miscellaneous items.
3. Column 5: 1974 and 1975 figures include some expenditure on public lighting and some expenditure on local overhead costs of road works. 1976-1987 figures include expenditure on maintenance and improvement of public lighting and overhead costs in all public roads.
