Vol. 402 No. 7

Written Answers. - County Kildare Roads.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

38 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received proposals from Kildare County Council for the improvement, upgrading and replacement of roads and footpaths at Main Street, Maynooth, County Kildare; if he will respond favourably to such proposals; if financial provision has been made or will be made for such works in 1991; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

An application for a specific road grant for works at this location has not been received in my Department.

I refer to the reply to question 277 of 24 April, 1990 regarding the funding of improvements to footpaths on the N4 at Maynooth.

Ceist:

39 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for the Environment if he has received proposals from Kildare County Council for the replacement of footpaths and the carrying out of drainage works at Main Street, Leixlip, County Kildare; if he will favourably respond to such a request; if the necessary finances are available or will be made available in the near future having regard to the urgent need for same; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Proposals have been received from Kildare County Council regarding improvement works to footpaths, drainage and road pavement at Main Street, Leixlip.

The question of road grant funding to meet the cost of the local authority's road payment proposals will be considered when the Kilcock, Maynooth and Leixlip by-pass motorway scheme has been completed. I refer to the reply to Question 198 of 3 July, 1990 regarding the funding of works on footpaths and drainage.
