67 Mr. Fitzpatrick asked the Minister for Energy if his attention has been drawn to the numerous complaints regarding the poor lighting qualities of the new smokeless fuels and the frustration being caused to people using them; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I understand that some members of the public are experiencing difficulties in igniting certain smokeless fuels, mainly because many householders are not yet familiar with the burning characteristics of these fuels, which by their nature are less volatile than bituminous coal. I would suggest that they contact their coal distributors for advice on this matter or use the free phone service provided by Eolas on smokeless fuels at 1-800-201201.
