68 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Energy when grants will be made available towards investment in machinery for felling, processing, harvesting and extraction of timber, as announced by him in July, 1990; if it is the intention of Coillte Teoranta to make an investment in the provision of machinery for these purposes; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
Grants are now available under the forest harvesting grant scheme to suitable applicants towards investments in machinery and facilities for forest harvesting and extraction of forest produce. Applicants should contact my Department for details. I expect that Coillte Teoranta will also apply for the grants and any application from that company will be carefully assessed in the same way as private sector proposals.
