Vol. 402 No. 8

Written Answers - Cork Probate Office.

Toddy O'Sullivan

Ceist:

79 Mr. T. O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice if he intends to appoint replacement staff to the Cork District probate office; and if his attention has been drawn to the hardship caused to many people due to the understaffing in this office.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

81 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Justice when he will sanction the appointment of a probate officer in order to alleviate the delays being experienced in the Cork probate office which is causing severe hardship.

Máirín Quill

Ceist:

82 Miss Quill asked the Minister for Justice if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the only staff member now working in the probate office in Cork is a receptionist who has no experience of handling probate matters and that, consequently, probate applications currently lodged in the Cork district probate office are not being dealt with, thereby causing severe hardship to many members of the public; and if he will take steps to have a probate officer appointed to the Cork office without delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Dan Wallace

Ceist:

83 Mr. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice when the position of the probate officer, in the Cork Circuit Court, will be filled.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 79, 81, 82 and 83 together.

This vacancy arose on 31 October 1990 and I am glad to say that arrangements are being made to fill it at an early date.
