Vol. 402 No. 8

Written Answers - Edenderry Coursing Meeting.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

78 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if the Garda Síochána advised a person, who was an observer on behalf of the Irish Council Against Blood Sports, to leave a coursing meeting at Edenderry on 6 October 1990; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is the duty of the Garda Síochána to maintain law and order and to keep the peace. I am informed by the Garda authorities that, on the occasion in question, a person was advised by the Garda that, in the circumstances obtaining at the time, it would be in his own best interest to leave the grounds.
