Ceist:16 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Taoiseach the number of non-combative cars in the possession of the armed forces; and the use to which they are put.

There are 30 saloon cars on issue to the Defence Forces. These saloons are used in accordance with Defence Forces regulations mainly to carry personnel of the Defence Forces when on duty.
Would the Taoiseach confirm that this fleet of private cars is purchased by tender and tell the House how often the fleet is renewed?
