Vol. 403 No. 1
35 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Communications whether he attended the recent world conference on community radio held in Dublin; and if he will indicate whether he supports the objectives of community broadcasting.
I did not attend the conference to which the Deputy refers. My views on community broadcasting are well known. I would refer the Deputy to the Second Stage Debate on the Sound Broadcasting Bill 1987 (column 1199 of 8 December 1987) and to the Committee Stage debate on the Broadcasting Act 1990 (column 1295 of 27 June 1990) when I reiterated that I am a keen supporter of community radio.
