The annual count of the number of traveller families is carried out each November. This year's count was carried out recently but the results are not yet available. The numbers of traveller families in County Dublin, excluding Dún Laoghaire, as revealed by the counts each year from 1985 to 1989 were as follows: 1985, 341; 1986, 374; 1987, 346; 1988, 298; and 1989, 424.
