124 Mr. Harte asked the Minister for the Marine if he has received a report from Donegal County Council in reply to his Department's request for a survey of piers and harbours in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
My Department did not request Donegal County Council to undertake a survey of piers and harbours. However, each of the maritime local authorities, including Donegal County Council, was invited to submit a formal input to my Department's Fishery Harbour Development Programme. That programme has since been finalised following a detailed study of the infrastructural needs of the fishing industry.
While no specific reply was received from Donegal County Council, the ongoing development of Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre and Greencastle Harbour together with the provision of the new pier extension at Cladnageeragh and the proposed dredging at Burtonport are included in the programme.
