129 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for the Marine if a project relating to sea angling (details supplied) in County Wexford has been approved by his Department or any fisheries board for funding under the EC Development Programme; and if he will outline the outcome of the establishment of a committee to review and rank in order of priority, projects of this kind for acceptance for finance.
Under agreed procedure, projects of this nature are prepared at local level between the regional tourist office and the regional fisheries board and submitted to Bórd Fáilte for assessment and approval. My Department has no function in this matter.
My investigations show that the sea angling project referred to by the Deputy was not received by my Department, the Fisheries Boards or Bórd Fáilte and it should therefore, be submitted for assessment to the local regional tourist office.
