In 1990, £650,000 was allocated for the pilot programme for integrated rural development to cover the cost of administration and related expenses.
Projects developed under the pilot programme had normal access to the existing grant aid provided by State agencies. In addition, a small technical assistance fund of £126,000 over the two years of the programme was available to advance certain projects during their planning phases. Over 90 individual projects were approved for assistance from this fund.
I have extended the appointment of the co-ordinators by 28 February 1991 at an estimated cost of £140,000, pending a decision on the introduction of a national scheme for integrated rural development.
