Vol. 403 No. 4

Written Answers. - Payment of Reactor Grants.

John V. Farrelly

Ceist:

143 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if it is Government policy to hold back reactor grants due to farmers in cases where farmers owe arrears of income tax; and, if so, when this decision was made.

The 1987 Finance Act stipulates that applicants for all grants from the State and public authorities are required to give their tax number, and confirm that their tax affairs are in order. These arrangements came into effect from 1 March 1988 and apply in cases where payments exceed £500.
