Vol. 403 No. 4

Written Answers. - Limerick Sports Club Funding.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

191 Mr. Noonan (Limerick East) asked the Minister for the Environment the reason he refused to allocate national lottery funds to a rugby club in Limerick (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the work carried out by the club over the last 15 years to provide playing facilities for children in the city; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I did not find it possible to allocate a grant to this project, which had been recommended by Limerick County Council, because of the limited funds available for distribution under the amenities/recreational facilities grant scheme, 1990. It would be open to the project sponsors to reapply for a grant in the event of a further similar scheme.
