190 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment the average unit cost of constructing a standard old person's dwelling inclusive of site and services; the average annual maintenance cost; and the average income by way of rent on such a dwelling.
Given the wide variations which can exist in relation to such factors as site costs and conditions, the cost of individual projects can vary considerably. A figure of £21,000 could however be regarded as an average current tender sum for the construction of an old person's dwelling.
Information on the cost of management and maintenance, and/or rent levels, is not compiled by reference to separate categories of local authority dwellings.
