221 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Health if he intends to make further funding available in the future, as was the case last year, to Muintir na Tíre for Community Alert; if he will support this scheme; and if he will outline the situation in relation to departmental as opposed to health board funding in this regard.
In regard to the disbursement of lottery funds in so far as health projects are concerned, grants for local projects are decided upon and distributed by the eight health boards while I allocate grants for national projects from the portion of lottery money which is put at my disposal.
On the basis that the pilot scheme in operation at the moment can be regarded as a national project, I have informed them that I am making a grant of £10,000 available.
