Ceist:104 Mr. Cotter asked the Minister for Finance if he will allow unregistered hotels to be included under the terms of the business expansion scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I do not propose to make the change requested by the Deputy; registered hotels must meet standards laid down by Bord Fáilte, and it would not be desirable for tax-relieved investment to be available for premises which did not meet these standards. I would point out in any event that, under the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939, it is unlawful for the proprietor of any premises to describe or hold out such premises as a hotel unless such premises are registered in the register of hotels maintained by Bord Fáilte.
