135 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Justice if he will arrange for extra supervision of traffic speed through Grangemockler Village, County Tipperary, in view of the fears of the local community due to the apparent ineffectiveness of the present speed limit; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
I have been informed by the Garda authorities that evidence of increased Garda supervision of traffic speed at this location is provided by the fact that 41 breaches of the 30 mph speed limit applicable to Grangemockler, County Tipperary have been detected so far this year as compared with 13 similar offences in 1989.
The Garda authorities have assured me that enforcement of the traffic laws will continue to receive a very high level of Garda attention.
